Relief material being readied.

The Club members who are involved in the Tsunami relief effort met this evening at the office of the President Karthik Sabhanayagam. The Club is working closely with the Govt. authorities in Pondicherry, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam.

There has been a lot of information that has been received from the authorities on what is required in each of the above locations and the club is making changes to the contents of its family building kit. Since we are working closely with the Govt. authorities the club has been given permission to provide relief material directly to the affected people.

It is expected that about 1500 kits will be ready by Thursday and that Club members will leave on Friday morning for pondicherry, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore for distribution.

The Chief Minister has offered land for the construction for 10 houses if the Club can manage it.

Relief seems to be going to locations which can easily be accessed. The Club will try and reach hamlets which now need the maximum help and which are not easily accessible. More than Rs. 600,000/- will be spent by the Club on relief materials in the form of family building kits over this week.
