On Sept. 2, three Army Men of the
41 Rashtriya Rifles, including a Major and a Sepoy were killed when their
vehicle fell 300 feet into a gorge in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
The Army vehicle was on its way
carrying troops to Kalaroos forest where an anti-militant operation was
underway for a week.
They
were fired upon by militants which resulted in the vehicle dropping into the
gorge.
The
Sepoy who lost his life was none other than Sepoy R.Ranjit of Thiruvannamalai
Dist.
The
incident goes to show that not just the militants, but even the terrain is an
enemy in these areas of operation.
In
our endeavour to identify ourselves with the cause of the brave men who stand
guard for us on our borders, RCCK went beyond singing the National Anthem and
forwarding nationalist messages on Whatsapp, by recognising the sacrifice of
Sepoy R. Ranjit. The club presented a citation and a purse of Rs. 100000.00 to
the Mr. Rayer, father of the soldier. The function was held in the presence of
Sepoy Ranjit’s family and some members of the armed forces.
